You must get a physical examination to determine your state of health at least two weeks prior to your surgery date. This will allow us to determine your state of health. If you do not have a family doctor, please make an appointment at a walk-in clinic.
There are a lot of steps to get you ready for surgery and a lot of information for you to process, but it is important to your safety and helps create the best surgical result. We give you a copy of the post-op instructions now so that you can review them when you are relaxed and more likely to absorb things.
Vitamins and herbal remedies contain chemically active substances, and the exact amount is variable. Some of these substances will interact with the anesthetic drugs and cause complications. Others will increase the chance of bleeding during and after the surgery. This is why we ask you to stop them ten days before surgery, or tell us if you didn't.
